The Inca girl mummy, often called the “Ice Maiden” or Juanita, is one of the most remarkable archaeological discoveries in South America. She was a young Inca girl, around 12–15 years old, who lived more than 500 years ago during the height of the Inca Empire. Her body was found in 1995 on Mount Ampato in the Peruvian Andes, preserved by extreme cold at high altitude.
